I am pulled out of bed far too early this morning and it is still cold but I guess the sun is shining so I had better check on the squirrels. We walk around the moat and I sit watching the ducks flying in, they make quite a noise with their chatter. The snowdrops are nearly over but the daffodils are almost out so maybe Spring is nearly hear. Molly and I dash back to bed as soon as we can and wait for the fire to be lit. Oh dear that does not seem to be happening, what is going on around here? We are feeling cold, instead we are told to stay indoors while Robert and Patsy go to Church. This seems very odd when it is only Friday and what’s more they are in there for over an hour and a half. Phew they are back but shoot off in the car leaving us with no fire and just the aga to keep us warm.

This is not good enough.

At last they return and see me shivering on the sofa, I am good at that when I want lots of attention, at least it will get them to light the fire quickly. Robert than takes us for a good walk and we have a wonderful hare chase. You can imagine who won that race but it did warm us up.

By the time we return all is well and I have two fires to choose from. I quite like the kitchen one as there is a bench with a sheepskin rug bought especially for me to lie on when I am really cold and it feels so good to be so close to the fire. Don’t worry it is a jet master fire with a guard firmly put in front of it just in case I slip off my throne. It all suits me quite well as it is very close to my favourite window where I can be on squirrel watch.

I wonder if anyone is going to come and stay this week-end. We have just had Ali staying who I am very fond of. He sometimes allows me to sleep in his bed which is certainly not allowed by any of the other members of the family. He understands us doggies and quite often sits by the aga with me on his lap talking about his day.

We both help him bring in the logs from time to time. After all the fire is lit especially for us.
