Directions

From London, Wales, the North and East

  • CARS and COACHES take M4 to junction 17, then follow signs to Chippenham on A350 and around; then A350 bypass to Melksham.
  • From A350 roundabout at Melksham take B3107 sign to Bradford on Avon and Broughton Gifford. First RIGHT to Broughton Gifford, across Common, (sign to Atworth) Great Chalfield drive on left after the village, then one mile.
  • Distance from Melksham about 3 miles.

NB. Please return the same way to avoid the very narrow lanes with sharp corners on the southern side of the Manor which can be impassable for coaches and large vehicles.

By car or coach from Bath & Box

  • Take A4 from Bath to Box, fork right at traffic light in Box on A365 (sign for Melksham).
  • At next traffic lights (Five Ways) turn right on B3109 towards Bradford on Avon.
  • At the first crossroads go left (sign for Stonar School).
  • Bear left at the fork by Ganbrook and at next (Stonar) cross roads turn right (sign to Broughton Gifford).
  • After one mile turn right into drive to Great Chalfield then one mile.
  • Distance from Bath about 10 miles.

By car from Bradford on Avon and South West

  • Take B3109 (sign to Corsham) go past Plough Inn, Bradford Leigh, stay on B3109, then right at second crossroads (sign to Broughton Gifford).
  • Bear left at the fork by Ganbrook and at the next (Stonar) cross roads turn right (sign to Broughton Gifford).
  • After one mile turn right into drive to Great Chalfield then one mile.
  • About 4 miles from Bradford on Avon by this route.

Parking

Please park on grass verges outside the Manor. Reverse onto the verge immediately on the west side of the Manor entrance, please beware of farm traffic.

You are warned not to use the bridle path (track) via Little Chalfield.
